The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine October 20 has approved a decision to allocate 26,5 million hryvnias for the purchase of housing for internally displaced persons and evacuated citizens in rural areas. The funds will be directed to communities in eight regions, which are creating housing funds for temporary or supported accommodation of displaced persons.
In total, it is planned to purchase 53 buildings. On average, approximately 500 thousand hryvnias are allocated per building. Additional funding from the state budget will not be required, as the financing is already included within an approved program.
The plan is to purchase new housing for displaced people in the Volyn, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kirovograd, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernivtsi regions. The largest number of houses are planned to be purchased in the Kyiv region.
Deputy Minister of Social Policy, Tetyana Кириленко, emphasized that the main goal is to provide people who have lost their homes due to the war with a sense of security and a place to live. Public organizations and partners will assist in the renovation of the acquired houses.
