Court orders a company in Dnipropetrovsk region to pay 530 million UAH for polluting the river.

The Dnipropetrovsk regional economic court ruled in favor of the prosecutor's office's lawsuit, ordering the state-owned enterprise to pay more than 530 million UAH in damages to the state for losses caused by exceeding permitted limits for the discharge of polluted mine water into the Ingul River during 2021-2024.

The Economic Court of the Dnipropetrovsk region has ruled to recover more than 530 million hryvnias in damages from one of the state-owned enterprises in the Kryvyi Rih region, which were caused to the state.

The company, which is involved in the extraction of minerals, has been discharging polluted mine water into the Ingul River without the necessary permit for special water use since 2021–2024.

The total volume of discharged polluted water exceeded 27 million cubic meters. These actions could lead to a deterioration in water quality, an increase in its mineralization, and a negative impact on aquatic ecosystems.

The prosecutor's office filed a lawsuit seeking compensation for damages, and the court agreed with the prosecutor's arguments, fully satisfying the claims. Once the court decision becomes legally binding, the funds should be transferred to the city council. The prosecutors emphasize that they are systematically addressing violations of legislation related to the protection and rational use of water resources.
